Safety in urban contexts and new fears between perception, innovation and inclusion
Abstract
Urban security, now one of the most complex challenges facing local communities, can no longer be reduced to a matter of public order. It requires a multidimensional approach that involves institutions, citizens and social actors in collaborative and participatory strategies, but also takes into account the socio-cultural changes and multiple processes that are transforming our cities. Crime prevention and emergency management give way to a vision of security as a shared construct, based on trust, dialogue and inclusion, a sign of a profound transformation in urban governance.
