Citizen safety and wellbeing in the digital age. A sociological perspective
Abstract
This essay explores the concept of security and social well-being in the digital age, focusing on how Italian adolescents perceive and manage it. From a sociological perspective, it examines the shift from public, material well-being to private, immaterial forms shaped by the platform society. An empirical study involving 2,708 adolescents reveals two behavioral profiles: “digital virtuosos” and “social virtuosos,” each showing different levels of awareness and strategies for protecting digital well-being.
