Food sovereignty and biotech food: tradition and innovation in othering processes in the Italian food supply chain
 
					
									Abstract
In 2023, Italy became the first country to ban the production and sale of cell-based food. This article investigates media representations of cultured meat through 2022–2024 discourses by Italian agri-food stakeholders. Risk discourses are shaped through othering processes rooted in symbolic binaries (nature/technology, tradition/innovation).
