Student housing and (in)security in Naples: between the right to education and urban marginalisation

Abstract

Student housing emerges as a solution to combine the right to study and the regeneration of marginalized peripheries. This study examines housing experiences in two university residences in the eastern area of Naples, a city with severe housing pressure. While these accommodations respond to the need for affordable housing solutions in a market characterized by instability and inequality, severe limitations persist with respect to their ability to guarantee adequate, inclusive and safe living conditions.
