Inadmissible. The construction of the ‘migration risk’ within airport transit zones in France

Othering and Belonging. Costruzione e trattamento delle alterità

Abstract

The article aims to investigate the social and legal dynamics through which border practices create the profile of the ‘inadmissible migrant’. Through an ethnographic study carried out within French airport transit zones, it proposes a reflection on border control practices and the notion of migratory risk as the main tool for classifying and hierarchizing mobility.
